The letter to the Church at Smyrna is the 2nd of seven messages sent from Jesus to individual churches within Asia Minor. They receive a good review, and the Lord Jesus encourages them to continue amidst tribulation and poverty, even though circumstances will continue to worsen. However, He is their dear Lord, in death as well as in life. Is the Lord dear enough to you to die for? Is He dear enough to live for?
