Jesus is the beginning. That is, He is not only eternal but also the Ruler above all rulers — The King of kings, the Lord of lords, the God above every other god, which are not even true gods at all. In addition, He was the first to overcome death, and His resurrection was an eternal resurrection that He extends also to those whom He redeems. These qualities exemplify the fact that Jesus is preeminent: The Most Supreme in all the Universe, both in this age and in the age to come.
