John sees a beast rising from the sea, a kingdom prophesied of before in the book of Daniel. This kingdom, the first beast, is the system of Satan’s dominion, rising up among the people of the whole world. Everyone on the planet is wrapped into the system, marveling at the beast and worshipping Satan as well. Everyone, that is, except for the watchful saints of Jesus.
